Flag Day — June 14 Americans will celebrate Flag Day on June 14, commemorating the adoption of the United States flag by the Second Continental Congress in 1777. The resolution established the nation's first official flag, stating that 'the flag of the United States be thirteen stripes, alternate red and white; that the union be thirteen stars, white in a blue field, representing a new constellation.'

This past week, I found myself listening to Dan + Shay’s song “Say So.” If you haven’t heard it, the song carries a simple but powerful message: if you need somebody, say so. Whether you’re struggling, hurting, grieving, or simply feeling overwhelmed, the song reminds listeners that they don’t have to carry life’s burdens alone.

Steele awarded 2026 PCCIA Scholarship

The Pembina County Crop Improvement Association Board of Directors has selected Madalynn Kay Steele as the 2026 PCCIA Scholarship recipient. Steele was selected as the most qualified applicant among a group of candidates from across the county and will receive $500 in scholarship funds for the 2026-27 academic year. A resident of Hensel, N.D., Steele recently graduated from Cavalier Public School. This fall, she plans to attend North Dakota State University to pursue an undergraduate degree in animal science before continuing her education to earn a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree.
